Icon
A self-absorbed media junkie spurns his obsessive admirer
and embraces his own fractured reflection on the silver screen. Narcissus looks for answers in the Icons of cinema, sampling
dialogue, mannerisms and personas as he searches for the truth about himself. His every step is dogged by Echo, who snaps up
the scraps of his words to create her own letters of love and hate. Around them, scenes are replicated and deconstructed from
films including Casablanca, It's a Wonderful Life, The Wizard of Oz, Sunset Boulevard, A Raisin in the Sun, Network and
Taxi Driver. A hypnotic soundscape and 12 live video feeds contribute to the overall sensation of drifting in a sea of
fractured sound and image bytes -- a sea in which our disassociated hero may well drown.
