about the workshop

Synaesthetic Theatre offers a rare opportunity for professional actors, singers, and improvisers to study with the incomparable Jonathan Hart Makwaia, an internationally renowned composer and performer and former musical director of the Roy Hart Theatre in France.

This intimate 2-day intensive workshop begins by exploring one's voice as it is (range, character and natural music) and moves on to singing and other varieties of vocal structure. Jonathan's work is rooted in Roy Hart Theatre training, focusing particularly on the dynamic between performer and form. Exercises will move through musical improvisation, song, ensemble sound, and exploration of voice as a source for composition.

A total of 12 hours of instruction over 2 days, with enrollment limited to 15 participants. Don't miss this wonderful chance to find your personal sound, throw off perceived limitations and judgments and discover the pure joy of making sound!
